Sarvam AI, a homegrown generative AI startup, has announced the launch of Sarvam Samvaad — a conversational AI platform designed to help Indian enterprises deploy voice-based AI agents across 11 Indian languages. Positioned as a major step towards democratizing AI for India’s multilingual population, Samvaad aims to bridge the communication gap between businesses and their regional consumers through natural language processing (NLP) and voice synthesis technologies.

Unveiled on June 10, Samvaad is built to support customer engagement, lead generation, and operational efficiency in sectors such as BFSI, healthcare, retail, and e-governance. The launch comes at a time when enterprises are exploring scalable automation tools that are both linguistically inclusive and technologically reliable.

Voice-First AI, Made in India

Samvaad is powered by Sarvam AI’s proprietary Indic voice models, which the company claims are trained specifically for Indian phonetics and conversational styles. The platform is capable of handling customer interactions in 11 languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Oriya, and English.

“Samvaad is not just a product—it’s a foundational shift for how Indian businesses can communicate at scale,” said Dr. Vivek Raghavan, Co-founder of Sarvam AI, in a media statement. “We're proud to offer a made-in-India solution tailored for India’s linguistic diversity.”

Unlike typical chatbot-based systems, Samvaad offers natural voice conversations that can handle contextual follow-ups, multiple intents, and even emotional modulation, enhancing customer experience across voice calls and interactive voice response (IVR) systems.
